  3. InitCD
  4. ======

  6. This program/icon sets up various aspects of the CD so that the
  7. programs on the CD can find their datafiles etc. This is run
  8. automatically when you boot from the CD.
  9.  
  10. If you are using the CD from Workbench, double click on InitCD first,
  11. rest assured it will not make any permanent changes to your system
  12. and should intelligently defer to support software you already have
  13. installed. Trust us. :)
  14.  
  15. To undo the changes, run InitCD again.
  16.  
  17. CUCDfile
  18. ========

  20. This is a recent addition to CUCDs to allow you to customise the way
  21. in which the icons work. We previously used IDer which caused a few
  22. problems. CUCDfile sets things up more intelligently before passing
  23. control to IDer. IDer will identify the type of file and look in its
  24. preferences file to see how you want to view/play this type of file.
  25. This means that we are no longer tied to a picture viewer that works
  26. on WB2, since there are separate preference for WB2 and WB3. Graphics
  27. card users can alter the settings to use a viewer that utilises the
  28. higher resolutions and colour depth of their cards. Your favourite
  29. module player will be used on each and every module, GMPlay or even
  30. the MidiPlay via Project XG can be select to play MIDI files and so
  31. on.

  33. CUCDprefs
  34. =========

  36. To change the default options for any file type, run the CUCDprefs
  37. program in the Prefs drawer of the CD. These settings are saved to
  38. your hard drive, so they will be automatically available every time
  39. you use a CUCD.

  41. Some people reported problems with IDer on previous CDs. This was
  42. usually due to their not having run InitCD first, so IDer couldn't
  43. find its default preferences. The use of CUCDfile completely avoids
  44. this problem.

  46. UpdateCopy errors
  47. =================

  49. Some people were experiencing strange error messages from updatecopy
  50. when running InitCD. This should be fixed now and the fix is
  51. retoractive, once you've run InitCD from this CD you shouldn't see the
  52. error on any other CDs either.

  61. ProNET
  62. ======

  64. There are now icons in CDSupport/ProNet to start up the ProNET server
  65. in various configurations. So you can now link a CD32/CDTV to your
  66. Amiga. Thanks to Chris Brand for this suggestion.

  68. Virii

  71. Each CUCD is checked for virus infection before mastering, but we
  72. cannot be held responsible for any virus that slips through. If you
  73. have any suspicions about any files, check them with more than one
  74. virus checker yourself. Make sure you use an up to date version of
  75. your virus program, Virus Z and VirusCheckerII are in CDSupport. Older
  76. virus checkers were reporting files as infected when there was nothing
  77. wrong with them.
